Privacy Policy

This page explains how batam.co.id collects, uses and protects visitor data. In effect since 20 May 2026, updated 13 October 2026. The Indonesian version is the original.

In short: we don’t ask you to create an account, we don’t run tracking ads and we don’t use Google Analytics. Tools such as the Batam Trip Planner and Nearby run on your own device. All we record are ordinary server logs and anonymous click counts.

Data we collect

1. Server logs: IP address, user agent, the page opened and the time of the visit. Kept for at most 90 days, for security and traffic analysis.
2. Anonymous click counts: some buttons (for example “Build my plan”, “Share”, “Call”, “WhatsApp”, directory filters, recipe stars) send one small request containing only the button name and the page address, for example trip-susun-sg-1-kuliner (origin, number of nights, interests). No name, date, phone number, message text or location. These requests appear in the server logs above, and we use them to count which features are useful.
3. Cookies: this site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Our security system (firewall) sets one session cookie, sl-session (valid for 1 day), to tell real visitors apart from bot attacks.
4. Messages to the editors: if you contact us through the Contact page (in Indonesian) or by email at dono [at] nyit-nyit [dot] net , we keep that message so we can reply.

Data kept only on your device

Some features remember your choices in your own browser (localStorage/sessionStorage). This data is not sent to our server and disappears when you clear this site’s data in your browser settings:

• Batam Trip Planner: your last choices (origin, interests, group size, currency, halal, travelling with children). See Batam Trip Planner.
• Display & accessibility: light/dark mode, classic/glass look, text size and other accessibility settings.
• Saved properties: the listings you have marked.
• Recipes: the ingredients you have ticked and the stars you gave.
• Prayer times & weather: a temporary copy for today, so pages load faster.
• Android app banner: a note that you closed it (14 days).

Batam Trip Planner

The Batam Trip Planner builds your plan on your device: place data, ferry timetables and fares are downloaded as the same files for every visitor, and the plan is worked out in your browser.

• Your plan (dates, places, your own appointments, the hotel you chose) is not sent to our server. It is stored in the page address after the # sign, a part the browser never sends to a server. That also means anyone you give a “Share” link to can see the plan, so share it only with people you trust.
• Your last choices are saved in your browser (see above).
• The “Start over” button clears everything at once: the plan in the page address, saved choices, appointments, your chosen hotel and your location.
• When you press “Build my plan”, we only record an anonymous count such as origin, number of nights and interests (see Anonymous click counts).

Your location

The “Use my location” button (Batam Trip Planner) and the Nearby page (in Indonesian) ask for location permission through your browser. The coordinates are used only on your device to work out distances; they are not sent to our server and not stored. You can refuse the permission and choose an area by hand.

Third parties

• Cloudflare: content delivery network (CDN) and attack protection. Cloudflare keeps security logs under its own privacy policy.
• Weather, air quality and prayer-time data are fetched by your browser directly from Open-Meteo, Aladhan and MyQuran using fixed coordinates for Batam city, not your location. As with any website, those services can see your IP address.
• Google: business directory pages and the English guides show Google’s “preferred source” button (Google News), which loads a script from Google. Search Console only gives us aggregate figures from Google search results, with no personal data.
• Phone, WhatsApp, Google Maps and share buttons only open that app or site after you tap them. A WhatsApp message to a business goes from your app straight to that business; we don’t see its content. BATAM.co.id is not a travel agent or a booking intermediary.

Android app

The Batam.co.id app on Google Play (id.co.batam.app) only shows this website through the Chrome browser on your device. The app does not ask for location, contacts, camera or storage permissions, and collects no data beyond what this page describes. Browser settings (cookies, history, location permission for sites) follow Chrome on your device.

Your rights

• Ask for your data to be removed from the logs: email dono [at] nyit-nyit [dot] net with the subject [HAPUS-DATA].
• Clear the data on your device at any time: the “Start over” button in the Batam Trip Planner, or clear batam.co.id’s site data in your browser settings.
• Ask for a correction of content that names you or your address specifically.
